Flad diapers are the most versatile diaper available! With a little practice, you can create the diaper that will work best for your baby, folding it exactly the way you need it. No additional bulk where you do not need it, and all the absorbancy where you need it.
Flat diapers are by far the most versatile in that they can be used as diapers, doublers, inserts for pocket diapers, changing pads, burp rags, receiving blankets and just about anything else you can think of! Flat diapers could feasibly be used on a baby from birth to potty training making them some of the most affordable, economic cloth diapers!
The trade off for this unparallel flexibility is that you do have to fold them! (Prefolded diapers are just flat diapers prefolded but do also require some folding.) Below is one way to fold a flat cloth diaper:

Fold the bottom left corner up to about the middle of the diaper.

Fold the top right corner down. The distance you fold the corners over is dependent on how wide you need the diaper to fit.
